About Fabio Valentini
Fabio Valentini is an Italian futures trader and one of the best scalpers in the world. He has been trading for over 4 years and is known for his order flow trading model, which reads the market through real-time volume, aggression, and auction behavior instead of indicators.
He trades futures, mostly the Nasdaq, and is based in the United Arab Emirates. In the Robbins World Cup Trading Championship, he ranked in the top three in the world in the futures scalping division, with an audited return of more than 500 percent in a single year. He is a high-volume scalper who can take hundreds of trades in a single quarter.
From Catching Reversals to the World Cup Podium
Fabio did not trade this way at the start. Early in his career, he tried to catch reversals, buying the lowest low and hoping the market would turn. He calls this "trying to catch a falling knife," and he says it works maybe one time out of ten while you get cut the rest of the time. He also watched a list of around 20 different assets at once, which only confused him and hurt his results.
The turning point was doing the opposite. He cut his focus down to one asset, the Nasdaq, learned it deeply, and started trading in the direction of the pressure he could see in the order flow instead of trying to predict tops and bottoms. He started as a price action trader, but he stayed open-minded and moved to order flow because it gave him a clearer, more objective read of the market. He built and refined his whole model while preparing for the World Cup Trading Championship.
That work showed up in his results. Across his World Cup runs he returned about 68 percent in his first quarter, about 88 percent in the second, and 218 percent in the third, all while keeping his drawdown low. He ranked in the top three in the world in the futures scalping division.
How Fabio Trades
Fabio trades futures, mostly the Nasdaq, during the New York session. His whole approach is built on auction market theory: the market moves between balance and imbalance, and he trades each one differently. He chose order flow over plain price action because it is objective. Everyone reading the same chart sees the same orders and the same numbers, with far less guesswork.
- He follows three steps: Direction, Location, and Aggression. He finds the direction, waits for price to reach a key level, then enters only when he sees real buying or selling pressure in the order flow.
- He does not predict tops and bottoms. He reacts to the market and trades in the direction of the pressure, using tools like the volume profile, VWAP, footprint charts, and cumulative volume delta, which also lets him move his stop to breakeven sooner than most traders.
- He protects his capital first. He risks only about 0.25 percent per trade, lets his intraday profits fund any bigger risk later in the day, and stops after three losses, which is how he keeps his drawdown low and, in his words, never blows up.
Beyond the Charts
Fabio is honest about the cost of scalping. He says the hardest part is not taking a loss, because with a loss you know exactly how much you lost. The real stress is watching a floating profit and deciding whether to hold it or take it. He now values his time and health more, tracks his stress with a Whoop band, and is slowly moving toward swing trading and options so he is not tied to the screen all day.
He is also a co-founder of Deep Charts, an order flow trading platform.
